Autumn Meet 2025 at Crossways C&MC Site Moreton, Dorset

Set in the midst of 35 acres of lush woodland, Crossways Caravan and Motorhome Club Site is a charming and peaceful location.  Although predominantly grass pitches, the underlying ground is quite hard which made for safe pitching even after rain, when wet.

The woods are populated by a herd of Sika Deer, which at times would come close to the pitches and the vans

Martyn and Tina, along with Ray and Bev arrived over the weekend to get ready for the meet.  After a very wet Sunday a further 12 vans arrived on Monday.  The weather, though better, was still quite showery at times.  Undaunted, a get together was arranged in and around two gazebos, under which we hardy souls enjoyed wine and crisps along with Chocolate Brownies and Lemon Drizzle Cake provide by Bev and Tina.

Tuesday and Wednesday provided the best weather of the week.  Members took advantage in order to visit locations such as Dorchester, Weymouth and Poole by train.  Moreton Station being only a few minutes walk away from the site.  More locally, some people visited a Sculpture Park which is situated in a wonderful Lakeside setting.

A meal was organised at the local pub on the Wednesday evening which was attended by all 27 members.  The food and service was really good and everybody had a really good time.

As the weather forecast for the next day was for rain, the opportunity was taken to give the answers to the two quizzes and hand out the prizes.  The Dorset Quiz was won by Margaret & Trevor Pilbeam with Martin and Beryl Barber in 2nd place.  The Earliest First Quiz was won by Helen and James de Sallis, with Lyn and Rob Fitz-Hugh coming in a close second.

The weather on Thursday was erratic but cleared enough in the afternoon for a final get together over wine and nibbles.

The sun came out Friday morning which allowed for an easy pack up, farewell and departure.

All in all, everyone seemed to have enjoyed the week.
