Dumfries and Galloway April 2026

We are planning a trip to the Dumfries and Galloway area in April 2026. We are planning on stopping at Sands of Luce site, Sandhead (where Cathie and Jim have organised club meets previously) as well as the Garlieston Caravan and Motorhome Club site. We are staying 3 nights at Garlieston site from Sunday 19th April, moving on to Sands of Luce site on Wednesday 22nd April for 3 nights, leaving on Saturday 25th April. We would be pleased if anyone else can join us. The area is ideal if you are planning trips to Scotland, the Lake District, Northumberland and the North east.

You need to book yourselves with the sites direct, mentioning that you are part of the IH Owners group. Sands of Luce booking system has a box for additional information, the Caravan club site doesn’t and the site doesn’t open until 20th March so we can’t let the site wardens know until after that date. The caravan club site is £33.20 per night for hardstanding pitches. Sands of Luce is £30 per night. Sands of Luce site is operating a metered system for electric this year. We have been told that the nightly price of £30 includes a basic amount of electricity but over that it will be by meter. If you wish to go to these sites you will need to book as soon as possible as both sites are not large sites, the Sands of Luce has only 26 touring pitches, as at today’s date there are 20 pitches available. Please let us know if and when you have booked.

Both sites are well located and there are lots of interesting places to see and visit in the surrounding area. Both Garlieston and Sandhead have a pub and a cafe. The Sands of Luce site has a cafe bar on site and is right next to a lovely sandy beach which you can walk along into the village. Garlieston site is by the harbour.
