Hello all, just a round up of our meet at the Norfolk motorhome show held at the Norwich show ground.
Thanks to Horace and Margaret for hosting the meet. They arranged our club area so the vans were set out in a circle around the perimeter, leaving us a good central social area much to the envy of other show goers who were somewhat packed in in some parts of the camping area. Luckily the exhibitors part of the show ground was only a short distance from the IH Owners area with plenty of retailers to browse around. There were 15 vans altogether and luckily we were pitched at the edge of the show ground adjacent to a shaded area of woodland ideal for both humans and dogs to walk around and cool off away from the hot sunshine. On arrival Horace and Margaret gave out a welcome pack containing an itinerary of get togethers as well as a quiz sheet that required some lateral thinking - very good for the brain cells! Over the weekend Pete and Pauline were kind enough to give people a tour of their new van. Very nice indeed!
Thursday afternoon get together for welcome and drinks meant we all enjoyed catching up with friends old and new.
Friday was the first day of the show itself. An added extra to this show was that anyone who wanted to could take part in dance sessions held in the ‘Big Top’ marquee either to learn how to jive or improve their existing skills ready for the evening music and dancing. A pre-booked coach trip to Cromer also was an option for some. Friday late afternoon was when our bowling/boules skills were brought into play in a ‘Bowl with a Boule’ competition.
Not only were the day skies blue and clear resulting in the hot weather, the night skies were clear and the temperatures remained high throughout the evenings and overnight. Looking out over the showground we were lucky enough to see the amazing Buck Moon.
Later on Saturday afternoon a special treat was in store when Horace and Margaret invited us all to a ‘cheese fest’ – different cheesy nibbles and even smoked salmon on the menu.
We had our final get together on Sunday afternoon as some members had to leave early for work or other commitments. The quiz answers were given out and the winners announced – well done to Kath and Lance. First place in the ‘Bowl with a Boule’ competition was Paul, second place was Joy and there was a three way tie for third place – Neville, Alan and Tina. An unexpected bonus to the afternoon was when Joy and Alan entertained us by playing a selection of well known tunes on the accordion and violin for us to sing along to.
We even had some dancing thanks to Graham and Margaret. Thank you all.
Also, A BIG thank you to Carol once again (who unfortunately wasn’t at the show) for the DELICIOUS cakes – and of course Paul who brought them along!
Altogether we had a very enjoyable time at the Norfolk show thanks to Horace and Margaret who were amazing! They hosted the event which they had obviously put a lot of effort into planning, setting everything up so efficiently and being such welcoming hosts! Thank you so much from everyone there.
