Au Revoir

Tony and Mary enjoying The BBQ at the Malvern Show.

We would like to thank them for all their hard work over the years and the
way they have looked after and organised us all.

Also for giving us the Newsletters.

Malvern Motorhome Show

On top of our wish list for Malvern was fine dry weather as the two previous IH meets at shows had been rather damp. As we sat in the middle of our designated area in our van on set-up day we knew that this was not going to happen. We waited for two hours for the rain to abate so that we could measure up and mark out the area. We managed to measure up and put out the directional signs but marking out proved a little trickier as the wind blew a way the spray paint the minute it left the nozzle.

However the next morning conditions improved and we marked out the pitches before the first IH van arrived. In total 29 IH vans assembled in the main show arena which was our designated area, very handy for access to the show. Over the course of the weekend we had some more rain and the tractor had to be summoned to assist the last two vans to their pitch and again as we all left on the Monday. However, there were dry intervals and there were plenty of opportunities to tour the show, spend money, attend the music events, chat to other owners and crucially it was dry for the informal BBQ that had been suggested. Well Tony and I thought it was going to be an informal BBQ but it soon became obvious that a lot of plotting had been going on unbeknown to us. We would like to say a special thank you to Kath who had tried to contact as many IHOC members as she could via the grapevine and organised the purchase of gifts for us.

We were so sad that Kath was unable to join us on the evening due to her recent operation. Lyn took over the role of master of ceremonies.

Our thanks too to Ian, Nicola and their staff who also joined us for the evening, bringing wine which was much appreciated by everyone and the gift of a Cobb oven for Tony and myself. We have enjoyed discovering how versatile this cooker is. If you have never seen one of these in operation look out for them at motorhome shows. It was an amazing evening and a very happy memory that will stay with us for a long time. We thank all of you for your very kind gifts and messages of appreciation.

There was even a special poem composed especially for the occasion by Tina House. The gift of lifetime membership of the IHOC was especially cherished. We plan to spend the cheque on a rear view camera for our new motorhome. We have only been able to establish the IH Owners’ Club with the support from Ian and Nicola and the many members who have contributed articles for the newsletter, volunteered as marshals for the shows, ordered regalia and those who have organised meets.

Thank you to you all.

The Future

The following morning owners met together again to discuss how the club would go forward in 2013. There was a unanimous vote for the club to continue. As there was no one willing to produce a newsletter in its present format it was agreed that the club would rely on the website and emails for communication purposes.

Sandra and Tony Cockell volunteered to oversee and develop the website. Kath Conlon will maintain the membership database.

Graham Thompson will organise the booking of motorhome shows.

Ray and Judy Pym will organise the Spring Gathering for 2013.

The Poem

To Tony and Mary on Leaving Us.

We are the IH crew,

What will we do without you?

You started up the club

And at times, you were the hub.

We wish you all the best,

Although you’ll be with all the rest.

We want you both to know,

Wherever you may go,

There’ll always be a welcome,

WITH US
