Retro- fitting a salutary tale

At the NEC show last autumn we decided to upgrade our present motor home rather than buy a new one and so arranged for a satellite dish & its accompanying hardware boxes to be installed by a local reputable company & had it fitted just before Christmas. This seemed to be the right approach as to have the work carried out by IH did not appear to warrant the long journey & additional fuel costs.

All seemed to work well, despite the fitters experiencing certain difficulties when wiring in the system.

Recently we travelled to IH to have them investigate problems concerning the wiring circuitry of the van & were embarrassed when shown the workmanship of the installation

The control box monitoring the incoming signal was lodged (top photo)in one of the

van’s strengthening cross-sections & the main fuse left dangling, all being hidden behind the back carpeted panel in the wardrobe, which had been broken during fitting as they only pulled this down & not totally removed it to enable complete access whilst fitting the system.

IH kindly re wired the system professionally (Bottom photo) at no cost thus showing Ian’s continued policy of excellent workmanship & customer satisfaction.

I for one will heed the moral of this tale, & have any future work done by the factory to ensure quality workmanship is done to a quality product by quality engineers who know their product & do not hide their work behind screwed up panels.
